JACK CHANG
Hi there :)
My name is Jack and I was born in Germany and grew up in Toronto, Canada. Music has always been a big part of my life, as I have been playing the violin since I was 6 years old, and piano since I was 7.
From my humble beginnings of trying to figure out the notes of my favourite songs from childhood cassette tapes, I have gone on to win numerous awards- among them the Gold Medal from the Royal Conservatory of Music for receiving the highest exam mark in Ontario for Grade 10 piano.
I also won several national competitions, such as the Canadian Music Competition (CMC) and the Federation of Canadian Music Festivals (FCMF).
I've performed with orchestras in Italy and Toronto, as well as performed solo in New York City and across Canada in Calgary and Saskatchewan.
I also was the concertmaster of the Etobicoke School of the Arts Symphony Orchestra, and was a piano accompanist at the National Ballet of Canada’s In Studio program. He received a 94 on his ARCT exam in Piano Performance.
I have been lucky enough to have performed for and received masterclasses from world-renowned pianists such as Enrico Elisi, Dmitry Masleev, Antonio Pompa-Baldi, Eduardo Delgado, and Carl Peterson. He was also awarded a scholarship to take part in the 2021 Texas State International Piano Festival, in which he will perform for extremely prominent pianists including Julian Martin and Daria Rabotkina.
I love sharing my musical knowledge and that is why I teach at my own studio as well as here in the Island of Music School. No matter your age or your playing level you have as I teach to beginners, intermediate and advanced students, I am a very patient teacher and I love to see how my students make progress ❤️
I invite you to book your free consultation with me to have a little taste of my teaching style and see if we are a good fit.

Jack has been teaching me music theory for the past couple months, and his lessons are very helpful!
As an aspiring film composer he plans all of our lessons in advance, which mainly involves the aspects of music theory focused on further developing and understanding composition techniques.
Highly recommend his teachings! Very patient, understanding, and friendly :)
