KEITH DANIELS
Hi there 😊
My name is Keith Daniels and I am a composer, arranger and saxophonist that is dedicated to creating works of art in diverse styles of music.
As a writer my music has been performed by the University of North Texas One O’Clock Lab Band, including a work featuring saxophonist Melissa Aldana. During my formative years, most of my scores were performed by La Chile Big Band, an ensemble led by composer Carl Hammond.
As a performer I have played the saxophone with a variety of ensembles. In the year 2015, I won the contest to perform with the Student Symphony Orchestra of the University of Chile, playing Glazunov’s Concerto in E flat major for alto saxophone and string orchestra, Op. 109. In that same year, I was selected as a semifinalist for the first Dilson Florêncio Saxophone Competition in Brasília, Brazil. Also in 2014, i performed Berio’s “Sinfonia” with the Chilean National Symphony Orchestra.
In 2020 I graduate from the MM in Jazz Studies program at the University of North Texas, where I also served as a teaching assistant of jazz arranging, jazz lecture series and the jazz library. Part of my studies were funded by another competitive grant from the aforementioned Chilean “Fondo de la Música.”
I am also a teacher that was part of the faculty of the evening program of the University of Chile from 2016 to 2018 were I served as a saxophone instructor and ensemble coach.
As a teacher I love sharing my musical knowledge and seeing my students grow and enjoy their music.
I am a very patient and friendly teacher ready to take your music skills to the next level 🎶🎶🎶
I invite you to book your free consultation with me to have a little taste of my teaching style and see if we are a good fit.
Keith is an exceptional educator, arranger, and composer. During our shared time at the University of North Texas (UNT), I had the pleasure of not only being a student of his but also playing some of his awesome originals and arrangements.
Keith uses a structured approach that gave me a very solid foundation as a composer/arranger. He starts from the basics of harmony/instrumentation and progresses all the way to advanced orchestration and intricate harmony writing.
His music notation software of choice is Sibelius, but I used Musescore when studying from him and I was able to learn everything he taught just fine.
One thing I like about him is that he can work at your pace. When I was studying with him, I was in a class with three other students. We were all at different skill levels, but he was able to help all of us progress at our own rate, giving us specific individual feedback depending on our skill. On top of that, he is bilingual in both Spanish and English.
I highly recommend Keith to anyone trying to improve their Jazz composition and arranging! He will seriously help you out big time just like he did for me.
